A little bit about me... Belinda Chapman

How I got what I wanted! 

Many years ago I knew that I could achieve anything I set my mind to - I'd proven that with my career goals. But then, I was floored with the news I had Endometriosis. It can affect your fertility, so this was devastating news for my plans for the future.

However, I was determined that it wouldn't affect me, so, when my partner and I were ready to start our family, I was full of hope.  

But a few months in and this successful professional was struggling, really struggling, to grow her dream family. 

What followed was a long journey to find answers and make our dreams come true. There were many procedures, Drs appointments, therapies, lifestyle changes, and $k's spent to ensure we could grow our dream family. 

This journey also brought with it mental and emotional pain. I was exhausted, obsessed, and bewildered. I was a shadow of myself for many years.

Something had to change. I'd just about hit rock bottom when I finally let go of pushing for achievement and allowed my feminine side to come through, and I let go of perfection. I relaxed into yoga, took some time off work, sought therapy and did an art course. I finally let go of 'doing'. 

And I was rewarded with our beautiful little girl.

Unfortunately trying for our second child caused more suffering. 

I reached out for help to let go, once again, of the fear of failing. I felt I was able to settle into 'what will be will be' and was gifted our second little miracle to complete our dream family.  

​While I wish having my dream family healed me – I still carried the mental and emotional pain.

The stress had taken its toll, and created a negative mindset that was impacting my health and wellness as well as my productivity. It was impacting all areas of my life.

My life truly transformed when I discovered the techniques to clear the blocks to my happiness and create the right mindset.

This mindset shift helped me:
  • better manage my emotions & therefore my stress, ​
  • ​calm anxious thoughts, and 
  • ultimately improve my quality of life.

I've brought all of those techniques and more into my Bekinda to Yourself Therapies practice. Whilst my particular circumstances were unique, I know I’m not the only one who has struggled with them.

I’m so passionate now about ensuring other women don’t suffer with emotional pain & stress. I love to help them to feel at peace & positive about their journey and their bodies.

I’m also acutely aware that you don’t have to have experienced infertility, or even be a woman, to struggle with negative, anxious thoughts. So, I’m motivated to help all of my clients to confidently take back control of their thoughts, and create calm and contentment in their life.
It’s been incredibly rewarding to witness my clients completely transform their mindset and therefore their lives from doubtful, fearful and anxious to confident, motivated and calm through our work together.

What else excites me?

At the very core of all of us are our Values. They are our moral compass. The Values that influence my life are: 
Compassion, Acceptance, Courage and Empowerment 

They are firmly embedded in my life purpose:
​   “to create and hold a compassionate and accepting space that supports people to share their challenges and desires, and empowers them to build resilience to their challenges and have the courage to pursue their desires.”

Everything I do is driven by my purpose & values, and my clients benefit from this.

I also believe the work I do ripples out beyond my consult room. 

When I was an environmental scientist, I could see that a lot of people didn't care enough about the environment. Ultimately, I could see that environmental issues weren't environmental or science issues - they were People issues. So, I started to work with people. 

I decided that to get people to care I could help them ‘clean up’ their own stuff and improve their mental and emotional wellbeing. This helps them think beyond themselves and do their bit to care about the environment.
How do I support my clients & community alongside the one-to-one sessions?

I remember standing on my primary school stage at the ripe old age of 12 declaring that I wanted to be a teacher when I grew up - I get excited about sharing any knowledge I’ve gained!

So, alongside my therapy and coaching practice, I present public and corporate seminars to share my knowledge. 

My events cover the common challenges that my clients face. These include topics such as: anxious thoughts, stress and emotional overwhelm, negative thought patterns, doubt and lack of motivation, and self-sabotage (perfectionism, procrastination and/or people-pleasing). They’re always practical too as I teach tools and techniques that are great self-care practices for home.
